"DR: The Serial Thrillaz won the
OMEGA tag titles from the WWF's Hardy Boyz after Shane Helms hit a giant
toprope splash of Mike Maverick shoulders. This match was amazingly great.
It was differently great than their last really great match from last month,
because HERE the ST were faces and the Hardys wrestled heel. I was talking
to Hangman Tim and we were trying to figure out if the Cheetah Master is
more over in Newport, Delaware than the Serial Thrillaz are in Wendell,
NC and I'd say it's a toss-up. Both are more over than Flair in Charlotte
it seems at times. The basis of this match was the Hardys whipping out
their heel tag team tactics THAT RULE. I think the Hardys wrestle heel
in those SWC shows at that bar but this was the first time I'd seen them
work heel and it was almost as cool as them working face. The ST working
face was the same way- their face tag tactics were super cool and almost
as cool as their heel offense. Jeff Hardy is totally INSANE. He took two
bumps that were... well... INSANE. Shane Helms seals his fate as Coolest
Young Wrestler on the scene by doing the Most AWESOME Lou Thesz Press EVER.
I couldn't believe I saw it. I thought they might Dusty the finish and
there would be a RIOT IN WENDELL and TIM WOULD HAVE HAD IT ON TAPE!! Just
like a Tijuana handheld! Unfortunately, they do the right thing and put
the belts on the ST- since they are the best tag team in the indies- and
the skyrocketing value of the tape on the trading block will have to rely
on the actual superior wrestling as opposed to the GREATNESS of a SOUTHERN
WRESTLING RIOT!! Hell, I'll definitely settle for this. This wasn't as
great as the last one they had from a technical standpoint because the
Hardys are cooler as faces and the Serial Thillaz are the BEST heel tag
team in the US. It was a FAT ASS night of wrestling and OMEGA continues
to deliver the goods- BIG TIME.
PR: Man that was so the WORLD'S HOTTEST CROWD. The Thesz press ruled so much that in the car on the way home all three of us started thing about it for no other apparent reason than it RULED. The Hardys show that they spend too much time around Too Much as the bust out all the homoerotic sexual overtones. The wrestling was great but I could have lived without the 69 spot. Anyhoo, Jeff Hardy decided to receive the Dangerous Ring Toss Driver as he flies like five feet threw the ropes and to the floor. Hi I'm Jeff Hardy. You might not know me but I'M INSANE!!! People who think tag team wrestling is dead need to get copy of all these Serial Thrillaz/Hardy Boyz matches because there is this spacial anomaly that keeps all this choice hovering around the Raleigh/Durham area.
PS: Matt Hardy is the North Carolina
Bret Hart, as he shows he can play the pissed off prick heel as great as
he can play the idolic face, Jeff Hardy is the North Carolina Psicosis
as he not only takes the huge elaborate bumps to the floor, but takes the
in r-ng insane bumps as well, including my favorite, as he placedone foot
on Mike Mavericks back to be a dick, and then he got fliped up in the air
and on his head when Maverick stands up. Shane Helms rocks it with the
assisted plancha on to said Hardy boys, which blew the roof off of the
Wendell High gym. And the aforementioned Thez Press. They had a ref bump
and a punking of the second ref, and for a second I thought they were going
to do the wrong thing and have the Hardy's go over ST (Which would have
been like if Flair refused to job at the David Von Erich Memorial on a
irate crowd scale.) This was not as technically great as
their match in Durham, but the
heat was so unreal it put the match over the top. OMEGA Baby Learn to love
it."

"Serial Thrillaz vs. Hardy Boyz
- OMEGA Tag Titles The Serial Thrillaz are Mike Maverick and Shane Helms.
Maverick is an underrated heavyweight that is working his way back from
two broken arms. Helms is one crazy son-of-a-bitch that can wrestle
his ass off. Along with the Hardys and the guys from the last match, Ladies
and Gentleman, the Future of American Wrestling. (PR)
Venom and Helms are definitely
the two ticking indie time-bombs. Both need to go to Japan forever
and become truly great. Shane Helms has that BIG intensity that the
real wrestlers have. It makes his offense look credible and keeps
you eyes on him the whole time like a little guy from Canada who wrestles
for WCW. Plus he is truly insane which is the big wildcard to mix
in with the cool suplexes. Serial Thrillaz are as good as a Southern-style
tag team can get- a Heavenly Bodies if the
Bodies watched a lot of New Japan
Juniors tapes. (DR)
Memo To Jeff Hardy: YOU'RE INSANE. That would be evident when he decides to wait to the very last second to rotate on a springboard somersault plancha. (PR)
THAT was SWANK! (DR)
Let me elaborate, Matt Hardy lies
on his back, and Jeff springs off that onto
the top turnbuckle and does a
HUGE plancha over the ringpost throwing in the
twist at the absolutely last moment.
Right up there with the coolest highspots
you will ever see. And what made
it so great is that it was the climax of an awesome 20 minute classic Southern
Tag team match, which had the Matt Hardy + Shane Helms do Malenko + Guerrerro,
8000 great double teams, the super splash from Helms, and various other
beauty and light. (PS)
The last two matches set off the debate in the car on the way back as to which was the better match and possible Indy Match of the Year. Either way another quite satisifying evening of OMEGA. (PR)
I'd say that the Serial Thrillaz
vs Death and Destruction and the Hardys vs Venom/Shane Helms were as good
or slightly better, but I didn't see those live. This is Win, Place,
and Show for Indie MOTY for me this year live. Tim said he thought
that the ECWA four-way was better and Cheetah said Reckless vs Quackenbush
was better this year live, but she qualified that by saying she was trying
to take into account her bias towards favoring Southern tag matches too
much as a style, but this WAS about as great as a Southern style Tag team
ass-stomp gets, because it
had the same psychology but it
also had IMMENSE amounts of world class State-Of-The-Art moves. Overall,
the last two matches saved this cards bacon and made it well worth the
fat ass trip. I hope to see it with the usual chain-smoking teenage armoury
crowd next time and hopefully while sitting on a couch at ringside like
in Southern Pines last time. (DR)
I will pick this match as Indy MOTY, as it didn't have to get all garbagy at the end like Helms/Venom v. Hardys and it had hotter moves then Thrillaz v. D+D. Venom and Cham Pain could have reached this, if it was a little longer, the rest was quite hit and miss, but those two matches Rocked it like a hurricane. (PS)"
