NWA Virginia Webcast Workrate Report

Availiable as always at http://www.wrestlingnetwork.net

What Worked

Mike Vaughn cuts a fun frustrated promo about how he was losing his belt and being ignored. Vaughn sounds like he looks and he looks like a guy who should be in NWA-Virginia.

Vaughn v. Logan Knight was a fun pre-heel turn scientific match. They start with some nice mat wrestling and Vaughn starts getting a little heelish. It is a super old story and done well, although Knight threw the first punch which kind of fucks it up a bit. Knight seems like another semi-higflying bland babyface, and his WTO protester look feels like it would way better as a heel. I could see him cutting amusing promos about the corporate hegemony of NWA Virginia management, and would allow O'Brien to focus more of the promotion around him. This felt like it was on the cusp of going too long, but it ends just about right with Vaughn tapping out, which leads nicely into his upcoming heel turn. Promotion doesn't really need more heels though, and I would rather see Vaughn moved up to feud with OSE.

What Didn't Work

These shows are really poorly put together. They are showing the matches in order, which leads to the first two shows of any taping to be really forgettable and undercardish. They really need to have one undercard match and one main event per show. Instead they are backloading all the big matches, and are risking losing their audience with mediocre shows. I would had one show be Suns of Ra tag and tag title match, second show EOD tag and Kiley title match and have the third show be Knight v. Vaughn and Wayne v. Dramin. Leave the rest of the footage on the floor, or throw on a third match on one of the shows.

I really like the Elements of Destruction, Dragen Frost looks like a tiny Sadomasochistic bear, and has 15 fun ways to kick you in the stuff, Grail is slick and not afraid to bump like a loon. Plus they have a manager who actually looks like a legit fat goth, the kind of guy who has contempt for D& D players because everyone know Solar Sword is more nuanced. Max Dynamite is one of the dozen or so Armenian babyfaces, who seemed fine other times I have seen him. This match however was really stinky. Just went on forever, and the babyfaces don't have 15 minutes in them. The last five or so are terrible, as Grail and Sean Calloway just exchange rolling suplexes and two count roll ups. I enjoyed Frosts low blows but otherwise this was the worst match I have seen in this promotion so far.
