LAST HEAT OF THE YEAR! Ring Ring Ring goes trolley.
Ring Ring Ring goes the bell.
What Worked
I am a sucker
for voice box references. I mean there is Denis Leary's "Guy with a voicebox
ordering at a McDonalds". There is Ned of South Park singing "Feel Like
Making Love". So of course when Kane busted out his LITTLE STICK, I was
amused.
The
Year in Review was pretty choice. Since we have all extolled the virtues
of the WWF and their video packages, I will just say that it was a good
way to relieve the events of the year quickly and painlessly.
What Didn't Work
Schneider
and I had this big fight over whether or not the Hardy Boyz vs. Shamrock/Bossman
worked or not. In the context of the show I was thinking it worked since
it was actual wrestling with two guys I love and two guys who don't anger
me. Phil raised the valid point that it was about a four minute misuse
of the future of American Wrestling. Why not Kaientai level of misuse it
is true. After watching the match about 4 times, I decided it didn't work
just because the Hardys didn't get more offense in and the Acolytes made
an appearance on my screen. This certainly wasn't the worst thing that
showed up this night.
The
Oddities and Headbangers sure as heck was. The WWF not doing anything to
help curb that rash of suicides that seem to hit right around the holidays.
Jackie
and Terri Runnels. Four reasons God created Fast Forward.
Man
was Mr. McMahon on THE STICK mindnumbingly long or was it just me? Golly,
he went on and on and he had Kane for moral support. (Speaking of THE STICK,
did you catch Tony calling it that on Nitro? He's so inside.)
Val
Venis/The Godfather vs. Jeff Jarrett/ Owen Hart probably could have worked
if I didn't hate Debra and the Godfather. I think the other problem is
that I see the Godfather and Jarrett and Debra like every week so the hatred
is deep. I have a very, very, very, very black heart.
Sean
Waltman is great. I know it. You know it. But there is a limit to what
the man can do. Carrying Kane to a good match ain't one of them. God forbid
that it was an actual European Title match. I mean we can't have a title
change on Heat. No, that would, like make the show, credible. Flames. From
the side of the face.
Happy New Year. Now get out of my house.
